Poor Richard's Almanack

"A Lie stands on 1 leg, Truth on 2." This is a quote which stood out to me from Poor Richard's Almanack. I think this stands out to me because in the end, all anybody wants is the truth. It takes someone with a strong back bone to stand up tall and tell the truth about some things. "A Lie stands on 1 leg," makes me think that someone is hiding their other leg. Since they are hiding their other leg, that means they are hiding the truth. That is why I say it takes a strong person to tell the truth all the time. Many quotes in the Almanack got my attention but for some reason this one got my attention the most. I think it caught my attention because I am someone who will always be straight up with someone and it really does annoy me when someone is not up front about something. I am one who likes everyone to be happy and I try to include everyone. I do not like when people keep things from one another. Maybe this was a tangent or something, who knows? It was my reaction to the quote and I thought it would be better to just share my first reaction with you.

  1. When I first read the quote you found I just thought, "that's nice". But after reading what you took it to mean it took on new light for me. I'm very much the same way and speak my mind a lot(not a favorite trait of many people). I liked how you pointed out that someone would be hiding their other leg as if they were telling a lie about having two legs. Great analysis!
